Just want to let you know that though Dorothy Briggs described the concept of &#039;genuine encounter&#039; it was Kathryn Kvols who came up with the GEMs anagram. I didn&#039;t realise that. The steps are outlined in her Redirecting Children&#039;s Behaviour course for parents. I heartily recommend her course and book of the same name. You can find out more at www.incaf.com.
