say cheese!

A mom in my MOPS group had a baby a couple of weeks ago. I threw out some suggestions for what I could bring, and one was spaghetti with meat sauce. It occurred to me, however, that the logistics of taking spaghetti sauce + noodles might be hard, I'm thinking the noodles would get all ughhh? So now I'm wondering about a baked spaghetti that she could easily heat/serve and have leftovers.

Here's what she said:

"Spaghetti with meat sauce will be fine. We will eat any you can put cheese on. Whenever you have it ready will be fine. You know me, overly dramatic! lol"

So, I'm thinking even a spaghetti casserole with cheese on top would be good? Anyone have a good/easy recipe? Thanks! Very happy

Yeah, I think spaghetti pie/casserole would be the way to go.  Thumbs Up

I don't have a recipe for it, though.

Could I just make my sauce, cook noodles, mix together, sprinkle cheese and bake for a while?  Think

Yeah, that's what I've always assumed spaghetti pie/casserole was...  And it can't really be done incorrectly, surely?  Scratching head

Yeah, that will work.  You can cook the pasta al dente, or even slightly firmer since it will cook more in the oven.  I use a little more sauce than you would think, too, since the pasta will absorb some.  Pasta sounds so good right now!

"Pa'sgettie Pie"

1 jar spaghetti sauce or homemade
1 pkg. noodles
1lb Ground meat
1 sm. container Ricotta cheese
2 eggs BEATEN
1 onion
1 c. Mozzarella cheese

Chop the onion and cook it with the meat (ya know like regular spaghetti meat LOL)  Cook the noodles like regular.  Mix the 2 eggs and a couple of handful of parm. cheese and some butter if you like together and press the mixture into the bottom of a pie plate...or casserole dish.  Spread the ricotta out on top of the noodles then mix the meat and sauce together and pour over that, top with shredded Mozza.  Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until heated through (bubbly)

Hope that helps.

baked ziti?

That's what I was thinking too.  Ziti.  Or some other tubed pasta.

But I also remember moving to Georgia and Ryan and I were so confused by the fact that a group of people could get together to eat and there was no baked ziti in sight.  It left us dumbfounded.   Scratching head  But not as dumbfounded as our Georgian friends who heard us ask about baked ziti and looked at us like we were from Mars.  Laughing outloud

Anyway, Ziti.  Or I've done penne.  I've done it mixed up with Ricotta and mozzarella and sauce.  Sprinkled with mozzarella on top.  It's like lasagna only without all the hassle of layering.

And I just found via a FB friend this site:  http://www.takethemameal.com/  Apparently you can use it to coordinate a group in providing meals for a person in need.  Just thought I'd throw that out there in this context.  Very happy
